Frame rates on console are not settled in detail: in its DF Direct Weekly of Jun 15, 2026, Digital Foundry notes that the 30-minute gameplay video was "a 30 fps showing" and presumes a 60 fps mode, which Playground's FAQ has since confirmed as "the option to play at both 30 and 60 fps".

A dark blue night sky over a grassy rise. At left a cottage whose roof swells and curls like a mossy hill has a warm-lit doorway and a round window. More small lit dwellings sit beyond, and at right a gnarled tree hung with moss grows from rocks lit by a lantern. A sharp mountain peak rises in the mist behind. No game interface is shown.

Playground has not published a higher tier (4K or "ultra") on Steam. The official FAQ shows a spec chart of its own; as this viki read it, it adds video memory of 6 GB for the minimum and 8 GB for the recommended PC, and lists the RTX 5060 and RX 9060 XT among recommended cards (official FAQ). Check the chart itself before buying hardware on those lines.

An SSD is required, not just recommended: a hard drive is below the minimum. The 135 GB is the PC figure; console install sizes have not been published.

PC features

Steam lists "high uncapped framerates" and "4K, HDR10 visuals with additional optional support for NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 3+4 and INTEL XeSS 2.1 on supported PC hardware" (Steam). No ray tracing is mentioned on the store page or in the FAQ, as of Oct 21, 2026. Steam also lists full controller support, with a gamepad recommended, and Family Sharing.

Fable runs on ForzaTech, the engine Playground built for Forza Horizon, with "a ton of additional technology on top", as Playground told TechRadar. More on the engine and the studio is on Development.

Where to play on PC

Fable is sold on Steam and in the Xbox app (Xbox on PC), and it is included with PC Game Pass from launch day (Xbox Store). Xbox Play Anywhere means one purchase on the Xbox Store plays on both Xbox and PC (Xbox Wire). No Epic Games Store version is listed. Every platform is on Platforms, and Game Pass on Game Pass.

Frame rates on console

The official FAQ says: "You will have the option to play at both 30 and 60 fps. We will have more detail to share on this as we approach launch" (official FAQ). At gamescom in August 2026 Playground confirmed a 60 fps performance mode on Xbox Series X but would not yet confirm PlayStation 5 or PC settings, TechRadar reported. Modes on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series S have not been announced.

Steam Deck and handhelds

As of Oct 21, 2026, Steam shows no Steam Deck rating for Fable, and Playground has not said whether it will be Verified (Steam). The Xbox Store lists "Handheld" among its devices but no "handheld optimized" status. With an SSD and an RX 6600 class GPU as the minimum, handheld performance is unknown until tested.
