Fable launches on Feb 23, 2027 on Xbox Series X|S, PC through the Xbox app and Steam, Xbox Cloud and PlayStation 5, and it is the first Fable ever released on a PlayStation (PlayStation Blog, Jan 22, 2026). It is not coming to Xbox One, and no Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 version has been announced, as of Oct 20, 2026. Xbox's Developer_Direct teaser shows the line-up on its final card: after half a minute of play (a rider on a hillside, a Hero drawing a bow, a market street, a tavern), the card at 0:33 lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, Steam and PS5. That card still says "Coming Autumn 2026"; the date has since moved to Feb 23, 2027 (Release Date and Time), but the platforms have not changed (Xbox Wire, Jun 7, 2026).

Xbox Series X|S

Fable is an Xbox Game Studios game and launches on Xbox Series X|S, "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S" in the Xbox Store's words (Xbox Store, read Oct 20, 2026). It is not listed for Xbox One (Xbox). It is included with Game Pass Ultimate from launch, and Game Pass members can pre-install it (Game Pass).

PC: the Xbox app and Steam

On PC, Fable is sold on the Xbox app ("Xbox on PC") and on Steam, and it is included with PC Game Pass. No other store, such as the Epic Games Store, sells it, as of Oct 20, 2026. Steam lists a minimum of a Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i7-6850K, 12 GB of RAM and a Radeon RX 6600 or GeForce RTX 2060, with 135 GB on an SSD, and promises "high uncapped framerates" and upscaling with DLSS 4.5, FSR 3+4 and XeSS 2.1 (Steam, read Oct 20, 2026). The full lists are on PC System Requirements.

Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud

Fable supports Xbox Play Anywhere: "Play it on both console and PC at no additional cost" (Xbox Wire, Jun 10, 2026). Xbox said of its Developer_Direct games that a Play Anywhere purchase carries saves, add-ons and achievements between PC, Xbox consoles and supported handhelds (Xbox Wire, Jan 22, 2026). Xbox Cloud is among the launch platforms (Xbox Wire).

PlayStation 5

PlayStation 5 was announced at the Developer_Direct on Jan 22, 2026. In GameSpot's upload of the segment, Playground says it is making the game "for Fable fans just like us, but also to introduce Fable to gamers who've never played the series before", then announces that "Fable is coming to Xbox, PC, and PlayStation"; the closing card names PS5 beside the Xbox platforms and Steam. Ralph Fulton, GM and Game Director, wrote the same day: "For the first time in the franchise's history, Fable is coming to PlayStation 5" (PlayStation Blog). The PlayStation Store sells the Standard and Premium Editions, lists the publisher as "Microsoft Corporation" and the game as one player (PlayStation Store, read Oct 20, 2026). PS5 launches on the same day as Xbox and PC. No PS5 Pro enhancements have been announced, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Frame rate and modes

Playground's only official word is in its FAQ: "You will have the option to play at both 30 and 60 fps. We will have more detail to share on this as we approach launch" (FAQ, read Oct 20, 2026). Digital Foundry noticed the same gap in the summer: discussing the 30-minute gameplay video in DF Direct Weekly #268, Oliver says, over the video's village footage, "technically, this is a 30 fps showing", that he does not know whether it represents console footage, and that he would "presume this game would have a 60 fps mode as well". At gamescom in August, Playground confirmed a 60 fps performance mode on Xbox Series X but would not confirm PS5 or PC settings, saying "We want the game to look great wherever you're playing it" (TechRadar, Aug 2026). The modes on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series S have not been announced, as of Oct 20, 2026. On PC, Steam promises uncapped frame rates.

Handhelds: Steam Deck and Xbox Ally

The Xbox Store lists "Handheld" among Fable's devices, beside Xbox Series X|S and PC (Xbox Store). Fable has no Steam Deck compatibility rating on Steam, and no "handheld optimized" status for the ROG Xbox Ally has been announced, as of Oct 20, 2026. Steam lists full controller support and recommends a gamepad (Steam).

Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

No version for the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 has been announced by Xbox or Playground, as of Oct 20, 2026. No official source names one.

Languages

Fable is "fully localized (Full Audio + Text) for English, Brazilian Portuguese, German and Latin American Spanish", with text only in French, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish and Polish (FAQ). Steam lists the same ten languages; the Xbox Store counts 11.

Age ratings

The ESRB rates Fable M (Mature 17+) for Blood, Sexual Themes, Strong Language and Violence (ESRB, read Oct 20, 2026). PEGI rates it 18 for violence and bad language (PEGI), and Steam lists USK 16 in Germany (Steam).
