What time does Fable release?

Nobody has announced it. Xbox's store page shows Feb 23, 2027 and Feb 18 for the Premium Edition with no hour (Xbox Store), Steam said only that the game "plans to unlock in approximately 4 months" when read on Oct 20, 2026 (Steam), and the official pre-order post gives no time of day. The only hour anywhere is on the US PlayStation Store, which lists the Standard Edition at "2/23/2027 04:00 PM UTC" and the Premium Edition at 4:00 p.m. UTC on Feb 18, 2027 (PlayStation Store, read Oct 20, 2026). Is Fable the same day on every platform?

It ends with the Hero telling him "She's back", a rival Hero promising "I'm going to fix it, this place", then a title card reading "Coming 2025" over the Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S and Steam logos, and a last card: "Play it day one with Game Pass".

On Feb 25, 2025, on the Official Xbox Podcast, Craig Duncan, then head of Xbox Game Studios, said: "We previously announced Fable as 2025, we are actually going to give Fable more time," and that it "is going to ship in 2026 now", adding "it's definitely worth the wait" (Thurrott, Feb 25, 2025). In June 2025 Phil Spencer said that "in 2026, Xbox players will celebrate a quarter-century of Xbox with a new Fable" (Xbox Wire, Jun 8, 2025).

10:13 The fall 2026 window was the Developer_Direct's closing news on Jan 22, 2026. In GameSpot's upload of the segment, Playground describes a team "built from scratch" with "a deep love for the franchise", then announces "that Fable is coming to Xbox, PC, and PlayStation in autumn 2026"; the final card lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, PlayStation 5 and Steam. Ralph Fulton later told IGN that October 2026 had been the target (Pure Xbox, Aug 2026).

Why was Fable delayed to 2027?

To give it room of its own. On May 29, 2026 Xbox posted: "In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we're moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves" (Game Informer, May 29, 2026). The same day Xbox's Chief Content Officer Matt Booty said on the Official Xbox Podcast: "We want to make sure that the game has a window of its own, so we are going to move it from this fall to February" (GameSpot via Yahoo, May 29, 2026; outlets quote his wording slightly differently). Xbox's statement listed the fall's other big releases before announcing the move, but it gave no single game as the reason. The development story is on Development.

Was Fable delayed again?

No. Feb 23, 2027 has stood since Jun 7, 2026, and no change has been announced, as of Oct 20, 2026. The Sep 22, 2026 memo that brought Playground and Turn 10 together "as one studio focused on the Forza and Fable franchises" said nothing about the date (Xbox Wire, Sep 22, 2026).

Pre-orders and pre-load

Pre-orders opened on Jun 7, 2026 at the Xbox Games Showcase on Xbox, the PlayStation Store and Steam (Xbox Wire), and every pre-order gets the Chicken Suit pack until launch (Editions and Pre-order Bonuses). On Xbox, Game Pass members can pre-install the game (Xbox, read Oct 20, 2026), with no start date given. No pre-load date has been announced for PS5 or Steam, and Steam's requirements ask for 135 GB of SSD storage (PC System Requirements).
