It is the full game, played early: the Premium Edition's store page calls it "letting you play up to 5 days before launch" (Xbox Store). The Standard Edition does not include it, and Game Pass alone does not either: Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members get Early Access by buying the Premium Upgrade. Who gets Early Access

Three purchases include it (FAQ, read Oct 20, 2026):

The Premium Edition ($99.99), on Xbox, the PlayStation Store and Steam. Besides Early Access it adds two armor sets, nine in-game gifts, a digital artbook and soundtrack, and the Order of the Hero story expansion (official site, Jun 7, 2026).
The Collector's Edition, which contains the Premium Edition plus physical extras. It sold out by Jun 23, 2026, and the FAQ says it will not be restocked.
The Premium Upgrade, which turns the Standard Edition, or Game Pass access, into the Premium Edition's content, Early Access included (Xbox, read Oct 20, 2026).

On each store

Xbox and the Xbox app on PC. The Premium Edition lists Feb 18, 2027 as its date (Xbox Store). The Premium Upgrade (store id 9P3RVJN6VXJ1) is sold now to Standard owners and to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, so they can play from Feb 18. Because Fable supports Xbox Play Anywhere, one purchase covers console and PC (Xbox Wire, Jun 10, 2026).

PlayStation 5. The PlayStation Store's Premium Edition lists Feb 18, 2027 at 4:00 p.m. UTC (PlayStation Store, read Oct 20, 2026). Moving from Standard to Premium on PS5 is possible only "after the game launches on February 23, 2027", the FAQ says, which means a Standard owner on PS5 cannot upgrade in time for Early Access: buy the Premium Edition to play on Feb 18.

Steam. The Premium Edition box reads "Pre-Purchase this edition and play the game starting 5 days ahead of full release" (Steam, read Oct 20, 2026). As on PS5, the FAQ says the Standard-to-Premium upgrade on Steam comes only after Feb 23, 2027.

The Steam "Advance Access" line

Steam's page also shows "Advance Access Starts 18 Feb, 2027" close to the Standard Edition's purchase box, which has led some buyers to think the Standard Edition plays early on Steam. Every other official source ties Early Access to the Premium Edition, the Collector's Edition and the Premium Upgrade only: Xbox Wire, the Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store and the official FAQ. Steam's own Premium box sells the five days as that edition's feature. Read the line as belonging to the Premium Edition. If you want to play on Feb 18 on Steam, buy the Premium Edition.

Does Game Pass get Early Access?

Not by itself. Fable is playable with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from launch day, Feb 23, 2027 (Xbox Store). Members who want Feb 18 buy the Premium Upgrade on the Xbox Store, which also brings the Premium Edition's armor, gifts, artbook, soundtrack and expansion. What time does Early Access start?

Xbox and Playground have not announced it, as of Oct 20, 2026. The only listed hour is the PlayStation Store's 4:00 p.m. UTC on Feb 18, 2027, the same hour it lists for the Feb 23 launch; a store's hour can be a placeholder. The Xbox Store shows the date with no hour.

Does progress carry over?

Early Access is the full game rather than a separate demo, so there is nothing to carry over from: Premium players simply keep playing when the Standard launch arrives on Feb 23. Playground has not published a statement about Early Access saves, as of Oct 20, 2026. On Xbox and PC, Play Anywhere saves follow the player between console and PC (Xbox Wire, Jan 22, 2026).
