Editions and Pre-order Bonuses

Fable sells in a $69.99 Standard Edition and a $99.99 Premium Edition, which adds Early Access from Feb 18, 2027, two armor sets, nine gifts, a digital artbook and soundtrack and the Order of the Hero expansion. Every pre-order until launch gets the Chicken Suit pack; the Collector's Edition sold out in June 2026.

Fable sells in two editions on Xbox, the PlayStation Store and Steam: the Standard Edition at $69.99 (Xbox Store) and the Premium Edition at $99.99 (Xbox Store), which adds Early Access from Feb 18, 2027, two armor sets, nine in-game gifts, a digital artbook and soundtrack and the Order of the Hero story expansion. Every pre-order, of either edition, also gets a Pre-Order Content Pack until launch: a Chicken Suit and three gifts. Xbox's 38-second Developer_Direct teaser shows what these items are for. A Hero poses in two outfits before a wardrobe, then, inside a tavern, opens a "Dating Gift" menu and picks a "Wild Flower Bouquet", one of the pre-order gifts, to give to a villager. Gifts move what Albion's people think of the Hero, which is why both packs are made of them. A third edition, the Collector's Edition, sold out in June 2026 and will not be restocked. The game itself is on Fable.

What the Premium Edition adds

The Premium Edition Content Pack's two outfits each cover footwear, legs and torso, the "Splendid Armour" and the "Bastard Armour" (official site). Outfits matter in a game where, as this part of the Developer_Direct segment puts it, "we want you to play as the hero you want to be", starting with "how your hero character looks": a Hero changes clothes in front of a wardrobe while the narrator lists clothing, hair, skin tone, tattoos and scars among what can be customized (Character Creation). The rest of the Premium Edition:

  • Early Access, up to five days before launch, from Feb 18, 2027 (Early Access).
  • Nine gifts: three "Queen's Bouquets", three "Bags of Offal" and three loaves of "Decadent Gold Leaf Bread".
  • The Fable Digital Artbook and Soundtrack, the soundtrack being "music by Jacob Shea", the game's composer.
  • Fable: Order of the Hero, "a story expansion in a new region of Albion" in which the Hero uncovers an ancient cult and becomes its "newest celebrity overseer" (official site, Jun 7, 2026). It comes after launch, with no date announced, as of Oct 20, 2026 (Order of the Hero).

Why gifts matter

Gifts are a tool of Reputation and Morality. In Fable every villager has opinions of the Hero, and gifts move them: Lead Game Designer Dan Greer's example is giving rotting fruit to a snobby noble (Xbox Wire, Jun 10, 2026). Xbox describes the pre-order gifts the same way: "Use them to build your reputation" (Xbox Wire). Gifts also play a part in dating (Romance, Marriage and Children). How long each gift lasts in play, and what a Bag of Offal does to a villager's opinion, has not been explained, as of Oct 20, 2026.

Pre-order bonus: the Chicken Suit pack

Any edition pre-ordered before launch includes the Pre-Order Content Pack, one per account: the Chicken Suit, a Wild Flower Bouquet, a Toy Chicken and a "Scones & Jam Picnic Hamper" (Steam, read Oct 20, 2026). The offer ends at launch, on Feb 23, 2027 (Xbox Wire); the same pack is listed on the PlayStation Store. Whether the pack will be sold or given away later has not been said. The game's long love of chickens is on Chickens.

The Collector's Edition

The Collector's Edition contained the Premium Edition plus a limited-edition Jack of Blades statuette, a hardcover art book, a custom SteelBook case and a Guild Seal lapel pin, sold through the Xbox Game Studios shop (official site). It sold out within about two weeks of pre-orders opening, by Jun 23, 2026, at a price TheGamer gives as $199.99 (TheGamer, Jun 23, 2026). The official FAQ says there will be no restock. The masked figure on the statuette is the subject of Jack of Blades.

The Premium Upgrade

The Premium Upgrade (Xbox Store id 9P3RVJN6VXJ1) gives Standard owners, and Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, the Premium Edition's content, Early Access included (Xbox, read Oct 20, 2026). On Xbox it is on sale now. On PlayStation 5 and Steam, the FAQ says, upgrading from Standard to Premium is possible only "after the game launches on February 23, 2027", so a PS5 or Steam player who wants Early Access has to buy the Premium Edition. Game Pass members are covered on Game Pass.

Physical copies

"There's not a physical version of Fable Premium Edition. If you'd like a physical disc, you can purchase the Standard Edition of the game," the official FAQ says (FAQ, read Oct 20, 2026). The Premium Edition and the Premium Upgrade are digital only.

Where to buy each edition

No other storefront, such as the Epic Games Store, sells Fable, as of Oct 20, 2026. Which machines run it is on Platforms, and dates on Release Date and Time.
