Isabel, the Hero of Wraithmarsh, played by Hayley Atwell, is the villain of Fable: "a powerful Hero with a tragic past. A former pupil of Guildmaster Humphry the Golden, her obsession with righting Albion's wrongs has driven her to darkness in her search for answers," Xbox wrote when she was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase on Jun 7, 2026. Playground Games put her creed in one line: "In Isabel's uncompromising view, Albion doesn't need 'Heroes'... it just needs her" (official site). Her plan, and how she fits the rest of the Story, have not been announced, as of Oct 21, 2026.

What Xbox and Playground have said

Xbox's cast post calls Isabel "the game's villain" and quotes Craig Owens, Associate Narrative Director: "Isabel is a driven, powerful Hero on a quest to make right a tragic injustice. Driven by grief, Isabel has turned her pain into determination and focus that sets her at odds with The Hero of Briar Hill and Humphry, her one-time guardian." He went on: her "conviction that she's not just doing the right thing, but she'll be able to make right any harm she causes along the way makes her a powerful, dangerous enemy" (Xbox Wire, Jun 7, 2026).

Playground's own post calls her "a Hero haunted by a troubled past. A past that has driven her to the darkest of places as she searches for the solution to Albion's problems", and adds that she "isn't the only dark force Heroes will contend with": the same trailer gave a first glimpse of the Jack of Blades (official site). Her bond with Humphry, the Guildmaster of the Heroes' Guild, is the one relationship both sources name.

The Jun 7, 2026 trailer

Isabel was revealed in the story trailer of the Xbox Games Showcase, which Xbox says was anchored by "an ominous speech by Isabel"; it also showed the Hero facing a Balverine and a giant toad, and "quite a lot of swearing" (Xbox Wire). The same show announced the Feb 23, 2027 release date. Every trailer is on Trailers and Showcases.

Humphry's story of a pupil (2024)

Two years before Isabel was named, Humphry's trailer of Jun 9, 2024 told of a young Hero from his past. Over shots of a young woman in the Heroes' Guild and then fighting with a sword, he says: "I knew this one Hero... I took her in, when she had nowhere else to go," that "this kid, she had it all. The skill... The talent... The power", and that she was "terrifying"; "I knew this girl once who made all the wrong choices." Then a Hero tells him: "Humphry. She's back." Xbox wrote at the time that Humphry is "forced out of retirement when a mysterious figure from his past threatens the very existence of Albion" (Xbox Wire, Jun 9, 2024). Xbox and Playground have described Isabel as Humphry's former pupil, but have not said in so many words that she is the girl in this trailer.

She turns Briar Hill to stone

At the Developer_Direct in January 2026, Playground said only that the people of Briar Hill, the Hero's grandmother among them, are turned to stone by "a mysterious stranger" (Xbox Wire). On the Official Xbox Podcast of Sep 9, 2026, Ralph Fulton, GM and Game Director, named her: "We see our village is turned to stone. Grandma is turned to stone by this mysterious hero, Isabel, whom we met at June Showcase" (Xbox Wire's transcript). So the Hero's first mission, to undo what happened to the village, leads to Isabel from the opening hours. Why she did it has not been revealed (Story).

Hayley Atwell

Hayley Atwell is a British-American actor known as Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and for the recent Mission: Impossible films, with period dramas such as Howards End and The Duchess, and stage work in the West End and on Broadway (Xbox Wire). Owens on why she was cast: "Hayley's ability to combine vulnerability with strength made her the perfect person to play Isabel." He said she worked "not just on the performance capture stage but in the voice recording booth, where her classical training was on full display", and "brought a dedication, seriousness and grit to the role that, in many ways, mirrors the character's own." The rest of the cast is on Voice Cast.

What is not known

As of Oct 21, 2026, Xbox and Playground have not announced Isabel's plan, the "tragic injustice" she wants to right, where Wraithmarsh lies in Albion, or whether she can be fought, spared or reasoned with.
