Wraithmarsh
Wraithmarsh is a flooded, fog-bound marsh in the north of Albion in Fable, once the farmland of Bloodmoor until the Sea Wall built by three Heroes collapsed; its one remaining town is Sodden Dorrit, and it is the home region of the villain Isabel, the Hero of Wraithmarsh.
Wraithmarsh is a drowned marsh in the north of Albion in Fable, once the farmland of Bloodmoor, "the Oakshire of the North", until the Sea Wall that three Heroes built to hold back the sea collapsed and flooded it; Playground Games described it in its in-world travel guide Visit Wraithmarsh on Oct 27, 2026. It is also the home region of Isabel, the game's villain, whom Xbox calls "the Hero of Wraithmarsh" (Xbox Wire, Jun 7, 2026). Fable launches on Feb 23, 2027 on Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation 5.

Where is Wraithmarsh in Fable?
Wraithmarsh lies in the north of Albion. The Developer_Direct of Jan 22, 2026 described the north as "mountains, craggy coastlines, spooky marshes" and the city of Bloodstone (the Developer_Direct segment, GameSpot's upload, Jan 22, 2026), and Playground's guide places Wraithmarsh in the same northern wilds. Its neighbor Bloodstone sits on Bloodland Bay, also in the north (official site, Sep 21, 2026). Playground has not published a map, so the exact distance between them is not known, as of Nov 1, 2026. The whole land is on Albion.
How did Wraithmarsh flood?
The guide tells it as local history. The land began as a saltmarsh no one could live on. "It took three Heroes" and a giant dam, the Sea Wall, to turn it into Bloodmoor, rich farmland that people called "the Oakshire of the North". Then the Sea Wall collapsed, an event the guide, written with a wink, calls a "surprise rewilding": the Flood drowned Bloodmoor, carried ships far inland and left half-sunk monuments across the mire (Visit Wraithmarsh).
Playground's earlier "History of Albion" names the Sea Wall among the "great masterworks of magical engineering" of the Old Kingdom's Heroes, Iron Shannon among them, and adds that the people of Wraithmarsh would say "not everything the Old Heroes built was made to last" (official site, Sep 21, 2026). The narrator of that history, Brian Bifford, is written as unreliable on purpose; the rest of the history is on Lore and History of Albion.
What is in Wraithmarsh?
- Sodden Dorrit, "a stubborn little town" on a fertile patch of the marsh and the guide's recommended base. It took in the survivors of three villages lost to the Flood: Underwall, Shepton-on-the Mound and Newton Bywater. Its people cook nearly every meal with cabbage.
- HMS Jubilee, the best known of the wrecks the Flood left, a warship from the Blood and Bower War. Visitors may dig up a keepsake there, but removing human remains is illegal, the guide warns.
- Statue spotting: pieces of the statues that once stood on the Sea Wall lie around the marsh, free to find.
- Shops: Unperishables (supplies for picnics on the wastes), the Old Lamphouse (a drinkery for the evening), High Fineries (salvaged keepsakes, with the owner's stories) and Wraithmarks (a tattoo parlor).
- Cheap houses: a two-bedroom shack in Sodden Dorrit costs less than a new hat in Bowerstone's Bowerminster, the guide jokes. Every house in Albion can be bought (Property and Jobs).
All of this comes from the travel guide, which is written in character. Whether the statue pieces are collectibles, what HMS Jubilee holds and which shops the Hero can use has not been said, as of Nov 1, 2026.
Who is the Hero of Wraithmarsh?
Isabel, played by Hayley Atwell, is "the Hero of Wraithmarsh" and the villain of Fable: "a former pupil of Guildmaster Humphry the Golden, her obsession with righting Albion's wrongs has driven her to darkness" (Xbox Wire, Jun 7, 2026). Craig Owens, Associate Narrative Director, calls her "a driven, powerful Hero on a quest to make right a tragic injustice" (Xbox Wire). Playground's Wraithmarsh guide does not mention her, so whether the Flood is the injustice she means has not been said, as of Nov 1, 2026.
Are there monsters in Wraithmarsh?
The guide says outsiders see the region as "a haunted wasteland filled with half-buried horrors" and jokes that visitors should update their will before exploring, but it names no creature. The enemies Playground has shown elsewhere, such as the skeletal Hollow Folk and flying Wraiths of the gamescom 2026 demo (Xbox Wire, Aug 26, 2026), are on Enemies; Playground has not tied any of them to Wraithmarsh, as of Nov 1, 2026.
Underwall and the gamescom demo
The gamescom 2026 demo quest "Mud and Death" took the Hero and Humphry into "a once-flooded, now-haunted mine" (Xbox Wire, Aug 26, 2026), and the Underwall named in that demo shares its name with one of Wraithmarsh's drowned villages. Playground has not linked the two, as of Nov 1, 2026.
Wraithmarsh in Fable 2
Wraithmarsh is an old name in the series: Fable 2 (2008) had a Wraithmarsh, and Bloodstone beside it, each with one of that game's nine Demon Doors (GameBanshee). The reboot is "a new beginning", not tied to the trilogy's timeline, so this Wraithmarsh is Playground's own (Fable Series).

AlbionAlbion is the world of Fable, a fairytale version of medieval England that Playground Games has built, for the first time in the series, as one seamless open world the Hero can roam freely from early in the game. Its named places include Briar Hill, Bowerstone, Bloodstone, Silverbrook and Wraithmarsh; a map size, region count and fast travel have not been announced. -
Lore and History of AlbionFable is not set on the Lionhead trilogy's timeline: Playground Games rebooted the series with its own Albion and story. Its in-world past is told in "The History of Albion", extracts from the deliberately unreliable historian Brian Bifford covering the Court of Blades, William Black's Heroes, the Old Kingdom and the Blood and Bower Wars. -
Property and JobsIn Fable the Hero can buy any house or shop (every house in Bowerstone is for sale), become a landlord who sets rent or an employer who sets wages, and take jobs such as blacksmith. Tenants who cannot pay move out, and villagers who dislike you may refuse to work for you.
